7A Parent Resources
In 7th Grade, our primary focus is analyzing informational texts looking for the author's claim and reasoning to access if the information is valid or not; whether we agree or disagree with their argument and why; and ultimately presenting information to the class in a group presentation on one of several topics students came up with.
Note to parents: Students are currently engaged in the fourth module, Adolescent Brain Development and are investigating the processes involved and changes tweens are undergoing as they mature into young adulthood. Once they understand the process, they will then apply this background information to analyzing a range of topics from the impact of multiple concussions on the brain, to how the use of technology has changed how we think and learn. An important part of this module is being able to evaluate an argument and determine whether the author's claim is sound and supported with valid details. -Mr. Brodeur
